About the Therapist
My name is Debbie Sheffield and I own Pro-K9 Massage. I am based in Rugby and serve parts of Warwickshire, Leicestershire and Northamptonshire (within a 20 mile radius) providing clinical massage to dogs in the comfort of their own home.
I’ve grown up around dogs my whole life and I currently live with my gorgeous Cocker Spaniel Jake. Like most spaniels, our time together is spent on long walks, sniffing for anything and everything. Having been a stay at home mum for a while and then working in the education sector, I was looking for a career change. I came across the K9-Massage website where I discovered the Beginners Guide to Canine Massage workshop, run by Natalie Lenton. Attending this workshop changed my life! Seeing and hearing first-hand the amazing results this therapy has on dogs, I knew this was the career path for me.
After completing the 2 year Clinical Canine Massage Practitioner Programme, I am now able to make a difference to so many dogs’ lives. This non-invasive holistic therapy provides numerous benefits in just 1-3 sessions and is suitable for all types of dogs, breeds and ages, whether it be Sporting, Working, Competitive, Disabled, Rescue, Senior, or a Beloved Pet. I help to rehabilitate soft tissue injuries which can be seen as lameness; offer pain management to support orthopaedic conditions such as Arthritis, Hip Dysplasia or Luxating Patella; address behaviour issues, nerves and anxiety as well as help dogs recover more quickly post-surgery.
I’m very proud to be part of such a fantastic cohort of therapists and it’s an honour and a joy to be able to help dogs improve their mobility, performance and quality of life. Not many people can say they absolutely love what they do, but I am one of the lucky ones!

Debbie came out to do some massage therapy on my dog Cassie who has Elbow Dysplasia. Cassie loved it, she was very relaxed and it helped her a lot. Also with Debbie’s advice on exercising Cassie, she is so much better now. I will definitely continue with Debbie’s services. She is a lovely lady and Cassie loved her too.

Debbie was very friendly and knowledgeable. She took the time to find out about our dog Rumpole, as well as the issues he was having. Debbie was very patient when massaging him, even though he wasn’t her most calm client! She also gave us lots of useful advice about what we can do to prevent any further issues. Highly recommend!

Debbie gave massage treatment to one of my rescue dogs Holly, who suffers with bi-lateral degenerative joint disease, as an alternative to medication. She really loved it. I saw benefits in her walking after just a few sessions. She wasn’t limping when walking, not pulling behind on walks and more keen to go for her daily walks. Debbie is a lovely lady and would highly recommend.

I was a little concerned at first about having massage therapy for our dog Buddy as he had a stroke 8 years ago and I wondered if it would compromise his condition further. Buddy was well behaved and he responded well. He is always on the go and to be still for an hour and a half was very new to him. Debbie was very patient, calm, gentle and considerate and Buddy responded well to her. He now has a lot more flexibility and range of movement. He seems more relaxed and comfortable. When he stretches after sleeping, there is a notable lengthening of his limbs. He can even scratch himself properly! Very pleased.
