About the Therapist
Hi, I am Sara Alan-Smith and I run Complete Canine Massage Therapy, providing hands-on physical therapy to help manage and resolve issues with the muscles and other soft tissues of your dog’s body, which may be causing them pain, discomfort and/or reduced mobility.
My background is working with rescue dogs, where I saw the physical manifestation of disease, injury and behavioural problems on a regular basis, and also how complementary therapies can help where conventional veterinary medical treatment alone cannot. This, combined with my personal experience of benefitting from physical therapy following sporting and occupational injuries, led me to train for a career in canine massage helping dogs to live healthier, happier lives.
Having worked hands-on for a number of years with stray, abandoned and relinquished dogs, I am used to sensitively assessing and handling a wide range of breeds and characters. I believe strongly in developing a relationship of trust with the dogs that I massage with the aim of making their treatments as stress-free as possible (for both dog and owner), whilst providing effective therapy that delivers the following benefits:
- Relieving pain and discomfort
- Improving mobility
- Promoting psychological well-being
- Assisting rehabilitation of soft tissues damaged by injury, surgery or disease
I offer home visit appointments at evenings and weekends as well as during weekdays.

“I was so impressed with Sara’s confidence, skill, knowledge and passion. I believe Oz’s condition improved greatly over the course of his treatments and my increased knowledge of Oz’s body’s weaknesses has changed the way I exercise him.”
Ryan and Oz (SBT)
“Sara was extremely patient with Nubo, responded sensitively to his behaviour and he was always happy to see her. Sensitivity to touch along his back has reduced, which is fantastic, and he is more fluid in his movement when running free – long may it continue!”
Claire and Nubo (SBT X)
“Sara read Rosie’s behaviour very well and was very patient and reassuring. Following treatments Rosie has more energy on walks, and moves more freely and for longer at faster paces. Sara is a wonderfully friendly and open person who I would recommend highly.”
Vanessa and Rosie (Labrador)
“Sara was very patient and calm with Alfie, adapting treatment to help him relax. Alfie’s gait has become more balanced, he has more stamina in his hind legs, more energy during walks and play, and generally he appears more physically comfortable.”
Lou and Alfie (Border Collie)
