About the therapist
Hello, my name is Sam Ramsay and I have studied and trained with the Canine Massage Therapy Centre for two years to successfully complete the Clinical Canine Practitioner Programme. I have worked alongside dogs for over twenty years and was drawn to canine massage when one of my retrievers Grace had a reoccurring shoulder injury. I made an appointment with a therapist and saw such a physical and mental improvement, as a direct result of her massage therapist, that I decided this was the path for me to make a real difference in the lives of our dogs.
I help to rehabilitate soft tissue injuries and myofascial pain which often presents as lameness, slowing down or limping. Orthopaedic conditions such as Arthritis and Hip Dysplasia can cause chronic pain in our dogs and by using four disciplines of massage, Swedish, Deep Tissue, Sports, Myofascial Release and the Lenton Method™ of direct Myofascial Release Techniques, can help to interrupt these pain cycles and improve the quality of life for your dog.
My experience means I am used to engaging with dogs of all shapes, sizes and individual personalities! If you feel your dog may benefit from canine massage or would like to discuss your needs further, then please feel free to give me a call or drop me an email.

Basically, she knows her stuff! Sam has helped Dougall with his mobility and he loves his visits. He has Chondrodysplasia, a form of dwarfism, and this has taken its toll as he got older. With Sam’s help Dougall is much more active and quite happily runs around the field, before he was reluctant and disinterested, now he just now goes for it! Thanks Sam.

Sam has been fantastic with Bracken my 13-year-old boy. From his first visit she has been calm and professional building a great relationship with Bracken and I. His mobility and temperament are greatly improved with a significant reduction in his stiffness. He is happy to go for his daily walks again and I’m so happy with the change in him since he started his massages.

I saw a definite improvement in mobility after three sessions. She was bouncy on her walks with less stiffness. I think it made a huge difference to her pain levels too as she didn’t hold back on her run anymore. I saw such a massive improvement by her third session with there being no issues anymore in her movement. Sam has a real bond with dog that is obvious to everyone who meets her, and it was a beautiful thing to watch her work with Purdey.

Bootz has arthritis in his legs and most days was struggling to stand. Since beginning massage he is far more flexible, and his walks have become longer, and he is far more spritely. Sam is compassionate, encouraging, soothing and confident. She praises Bootz during his sessions and even puts on soothing music, Bootz is incredibly happy!
