About the therapist
My name is Kerry Owen and I own and run Ani-motion Massage Therapy based in Market Drayton, Shropshire. I offer both Equine and Canine massage therapy across Shropshire, Staffordshire and Cheshire.
I have an MSc in Equine Science and have been working as an Equine lecturer since 2008. I started my business as an Equine Sports Massage Therapist in 2020. I currently live with my two French Bulldogs; we regularly attend obedience classes and have recently started agility training. Working as an equine therapist and experiencing first hand, the benefits of clinical canine massage for one of my own dogs, who has luxating patella, led me to the Canine Clinical Massage Practitioner Programme.
I have trained for two years with the Canine Massage Therapy Centre, and I have an in-depth knowledge of canine anatomy and physiology, as well as covering the four main disciplines of massage – Swedish, sports, deep tissue and myofascial release. I am also trained in the Lenton Method®, which is unique to Guild Therapists, and is scientifically proven to provide benefit to over 95% of dogs.
I now work with a wide range of dogs, of all ages and breeds, whether they are beloved pets, working, show or sporting dogs. Each treatment is tailored to the individual needs of each dog and combines advanced palpation skills with gait analysis, massage and myofascial release techniques, to treat soft tissue and muscular injuries often seen as lameness or slowing down, as well as providing pain management and offering support for common orthopaedic conditions such as arthritis, hip/elbow dysplasia, luxating patella and cruciate ligament damage. Massage also helps dogs to recover more quickly-post surgery. Improvements can be seen within 1-3 sessions.

Kerry was professional and patient with Cosmo, taking her time to ensure he was comfortable. After his treatments Cosmo felt softer to the touch and was more affectionate and receptive to being stroked. I was shocked how quickly Dinky would settle during the treatments and by the 3rd session he was lying on the bed waiting for his treatment! Dinky is a show dog and the quality of his paces are very important, but before his treatments he would often pace, after just the first treatment I have not seen him pace. After the three treatments, his proprioception and balance have also improved.

Kerry was calm, confident and gentle, I was amazed at the trust Misty showed. After her first treatments Misty was less anxious, has stopped gobbling her food and is no longer pacing around the room on an evening. She is more affectionate towards us and her movement has improved immensely, the strange bunny-hop she has done for years has disappeared and her stamina has improved.

Molly is a fit, lively dog but I have seen huge improvements in her agility – jumping and leaping around effortlessly!
