About the therapist

Hannah walsh photoMy name is Hannah and I run Hannah Walsh, Clinical Canine Massage Therapy. I live in Horbury, near Wakefield, in West Yorkshire with my dog Hilda.

Hilda and I compete at Agility and we were introduced to Canine Massage Therapy through a free muscle health check stand at an agility competition. That led me, initially, to a one-day pre & post event course through the Canine Massage Therapy Centre and eventually to the 2-year Practitioner Programme.

Previously I have worked as an Industrial Chemist and then as a UNIX/Linux Sys Admin but realised a few years ago that I needed a complete career change as sitting at a computer for 8 hours a day wasn’t any good for my eyesight, physical or mental health.

Clinical Canine Massage Therapy is a holistic approach to treatment, we assess and treat the whole dog not just the immediate area of concern. As part of the Practitioner Programme I learnt the four disciplines of massage. Swedish, Sports, Deep Tissue and myofascial release as well as the scientifically proven Lenton Method® of myofascial release techniques.

I am enjoying the ability to fulfil my lifelong dream of working with animals by using these techniques to assist all ages, sizes, breeds and cross-breeds of dog in their recovery from muscular and soft tissue injuries, help manage their pain from orthopaedic conditions such as arthritis and elbow dysplasia and also to reduce levels of anxiety and nervousness.

Please get in touch to discuss your dog’s individual requirements.

Client Comments

Tom thoroughly enjoyed his massage therapy sessions and has been much livelier and active since starting treatment, his cheeky nature has returned, and he is once more busy putting his nose into places where it shouldn’t be!

Sylvia & Tom (10 year old large mixed breed)

Having massage sessions from Hannah has really helped to calm Buddy down, he is now much less vociferous and far more at ease in situations he finds stressful such as the vets.

Linda & Buddy (8 year old Jack Russell Terrier)

Loki has been absolutely awesome since his last massage session; he is out of pain and can once again enjoy off-lead walks. He has also turned into a real love-bug and now actively seeks out cuddles which he has never done before.

Laura & Loki (2 year old Border Collie)

The morning after her first massage session Lexi was behaving like a puppy again; initiating play sessions with our other, younger, dogs, bouncing, running around and full of energy!

Janice & Lexi (10 year old Hovawart)
