About the therapist
My name is Joanne Mulligan and I am the proud owner of Retreat Clinical Canine Massage based in Omagh. I cover the areas of Tyrone, Fermanagh, Londonderry and border counties. I have always loved animals and have been very fortunate to have dogs, horses and cats throughout my life, who have been my constant companions during good times and my rocks during difficult times. Previously I worked as a Sport & Exercise Lecturer and I was looking for a change of direction and working with animals has always been my dream. I successfully completed the two year Clinical Canine Massage Therapy course in September 2021, taught by the renowned Natalie Lenton, training in the art of Palpation, Swedish, Deep Tissue, Sport and Myofascial Release. I specialise in the Lenton Method® the results from which are staggering in only 1 – 3 sessions. As well as offering massage, I am also Reiki Masters attuned and I am also a Level 3 Sports Massage therapist for humans.
Clinical Canine massage is suitable for dogs of any age or breed and my aim will be to increase your dog’s range of motion and mobility, reduce their pain levels and improve their overall happiness and quality of life. The treatment can help your dog’s ability to undertake activities of daily living such as getting in and out of the car, up and down stairs and improved enjoyment of exercise. It also helps to support a number of issues including:
• Anxiety
• Pre and post operative care
• Arthritis,
• Elbow and hip dysplasia
• Cruciate ligament tears
• Luxating patella
• Spondylosis
• CDRM
I have been delighted by the positive results I have seen with the dogs I have been lucky enough to treat. Please feel free to get in touch about this marvellous therapy and the benefits it can bring to your dog!
Cost
£35 per session. The first consultation lasts approximately 90 minutes, further treatments are 60 minutes.

Client Comments
We are great believers in holistic therapies so we were very interested and thought this would be a good idea to explore with Poppy especially with her nervousness, spinal curvature and osteoarthritis in both hind legs. Joanne was incredibly calm and relaxed around Poppy and soon built up rapport and trust with her. We found Poppy became less timid around other dogs and we could calmly curb her reactive barking and most noticeable was the spring in her step. She is more loving and much more playful. In general, we feel she is a much happier dog.

Jill responded incredibly well to the treatment and was very content and comfortable with Joanne. She clearly enjoyed it and was happy to be back on the additional visits. Joanne took great care to make Jill feel relaxed and was very attentive to her. Jill can be anxious around new people but was very at ease with Joanne. On the return visit she went straight to Joanne without encouragement for treatment. Joanne is a natural with dogs and very good at explaining any issues she encountered during the therapy. Jill had a marked improvement in flexibility after the third session and was very lively and keen to get out on walks. That had been one of my hopes. She was in great form after each session especially after the third. I will be recommending canine massage to my friends and especially those with working dogs like Jill. I think the treatments are clearly beneficial and I look forward to bringing my other dogs for treatment.

Freddy is calmer when out walking and less aggressive towards other dogs. Even my fellow walkers have noticed the new calm and less aggressive Freddy. He just seems a happier more confident dog. He now regularly comes and sits on my knee for cuddles which he was never really interested in before. Joanne was brilliant and took time to fully understand Freddy’s history. She was very patient and understood his wariness and gave him time to get used to her treatment room and her handling him and he responded to her well. She was very confident in what she was doing and really cared for Freddy and wanted him to do well from her treatments. I wouldn’t hesitate to offer Freddy more massage therapy and would definitely return to Joanne.
