About the Therapist
My name is Catherine Ryan and I am the owner of Dogs Body Canine Massage Therapy based in Gloucestershire. I successfully completed the Therapeutic Canine Massage Diploma in January 2012. When I joined The Canine Massage Guild 10 years ago, there were only 14 members. Since 2015 I have been a Tutor on The Clinical Canine Massage Practitioner Programme, helping students to become Clinical Canine Massage Therapists and now we have over 140 members.
I qualified as a human Sports Massage Therapist in 1999 and knew how beneficial this is on humans so wanted to do the same for dogs. When researching which course to do, The Canine Massage Therapy Centre stood out as the best course to do. I took my Labrador, Paddy, to Natalie Lenton, the Director of The Canine Massage Therapy Centre for treatment as he was lame and she instantly found the muscle strain causing him discomfort and dysfunction and treated him successfully. I knew then that I wanted to become a canine massage therapist.
I have one rescue dog who leads a very active life and massage has certainly helped him over the years He also accompanies me when I am teaching and keeps the students entertained!.
My work is my passion and I can’t imagine doing anything else!

“I contacted Cath to request a treatment for Tooky as he had had a bad reaction to some antibiotics which resulted in temporary paralysis and inflamed joints. After one treatment Tooky was acting like an 18 month old puppy with lots more energy. He went on to have further treatments which have continued to improved his mobility. He had a few muscular strains which have been resolved and I can now start training Tooky again for sled dog racing and distance trekking. I would not hesitate to book another treatment again should Tooky need this, and would recommend Cath to any dog owner or veterinary surgeon looking to use canine massage as a treatment/therapy.”
