About the Therapist
My name is Louise Skelton. I run Home Counties Clinical Canine Massage Therapy. My clinic is based in Caddington, Bedfordshire but I am also happy to do home visits within the Home Counties.
My passion for canine massage therapy came from seeing the benefits it made to my own dogs. I have always understood the importance of massage to help maintain the body for optimum performance. During my days playing elite level sport, massage always played an important part of my pre and post-match recovery and also injury rehabilitation. Seeing how these same benefits can make such a dramatic difference to a dog during a session is truly humbling.
My 2 years of training with the Canine Massage Therapy Centre taught me the four main disciplines of canine massage. Swedish, Sports, Deep tissue and Myofascial release, as each treatment is bespoke to your dog, understanding how and when to implement these disciplines is vital to ensure your dog gets the most out of their treatment.
I attend regular CPD sessions to keep my skills up to date and I am also trained in;
– Advanced Manual Lymphatic Drainage
– Advanced Deep Tissue
– Ventral Aspect
– CMTC Workshop Instructor
I also hold a BSc Honours Degree in Sports Physiology and Biology.
In my spare time I volunteer for StreetVet helping pets of those people experiencing homelessness.

Louise treated our 11 year old Springer Spaniel for a inconsistent limp on his front right leg. He is a ‘lively and cheeky’ character aka naughty and a typical lively springer. She managed him with huge care, great professionalism and a wicked sense of humour. She adapted to his needs and thought outside the box to ensure his experience was 100% positive. Not only was his treatment beneficial for his original complaint, it has also allowed us as owners to understand his needs and movements better so we can ensure he continues to be a happy boy who enjoys his walks and play. He now has maintenance treatments allow him to be comfortable and free moving for much longer periods of time. Louise really knows her stuff. She treated my Rhodesian Ridgeback for a strain (I’d noticed intermittent limping) and got straight to the problem. She now she treats her every month as I don’t want Kali to develop and muscular and back problems in her middle age. Kali gets ‘into position’ as soon as she sees Louise, she’s a nervous dog but she loves her treatments. I’d recommend Louise to anyone – she’s great!
