About the Therapist

My name is Rachel and I am a Registered Veterinary Nurse. I come from a farming background, but began my career as a Veterinary Nurse in 2006. I currently have 3 working Springer Spaniels, and have been surrounded by dogs my whole life.
I became interested in Clinical Canine Massage to support my own dogs through their working life, but soon realised that there were far more dogs out there that would benefit from this incredible therapy.
I treat a wide range of dogs, some of which may have orthopaedic issues such as arthritis, hip/elbow dysplasia and spondylosis; show, competition and working dogs; and those recovering from injury or surgery. I love being able to assist in an effective pain management programme, as well as being able to help educate owners how to reduce the likelihood of injuries occurring in the first place.
Being a Veterinary Nurse for almost 2 decades means I have experience of many disease processes, surgical repairs and neurological issues. I have extensive experience of working with all kinds of dogs, including those who are anxious, nervous and reactive. My practice promotes a ‘Fear Free’ approach with all patients and each individuals’ needs are always catered for.
I am a tutor with the Canine Massage Therapy Centre on their 2-year Clinical Canine Massage Practitioner Programme, and also a licenced workshop instructor where I run one-day workshops for owners (Beginners guide to massage, and Massage for the sporting dog).
I am based in Ross on Wye, Herefordshire which has excellent access to the Forest of Dean, Gloucestershire, and Monmouthshire.
Please do not hesitate to get in contact with me so that we can discuss how Clinical Massage can help your dog.

Clinical massage has literally been a life saver for Tiny! After sustaining a back injury last Christmas, as a senior dog, Tiny struggled to recover, and things weren’t looking hopeful. One of the vets suggested clinical massage, which we went ahead and tried. It’s literally the best decision I could have made, as it improved her quality of life overnight. Tiny now has a maintenance treatment once a fortnight, and even though she has a nervous temperament, Tiny appears to really enjoy it, to the point of falling asleep! As a result of the clinical massage, Tiny is once again comfortable and able to enjoy the remaining time she has left. I’m so grateful that clinical massage was available as an option
There has been an ongoing improvement after each session. Grace is noticeably more comfortable, more supple, happier and more alert. She is willing to take on tasks she would not have done a month ago, and doesn’t look so much of an old lady anymore. Very pleased owner and dog!
After massage Myrtle moves with more confidence and freedom. She looks happier in herself and now manages the stairs by herself. She is also managing long walks far more easily, with less stiffness afterwards. I am so pleased, thank you!
