About the therapist
Hello, I am Anna and I am the proud owner of Hector’s Clinical Canine Massage, named after my lovely Labrador Hector who has taught me so much.
For as long as I can remember, my passion has been animals, but specifically dogs and horses who I have been around from a young age. I have always been interested in massage and its many benefits, which I have experienced first-hand, having regular massages myself. Whilst working with horses I also saw the multiple benefits of massage for horses, including freer movement without stiffness and pain, decreased behavioural problems and a more relaxed animal. I became very interested in how massage could have the same benefits for dogs and discovered the Canine Massage Therapy Centre. I attended the Beginners Guide to Canine Massage workshop with Hector and knew straight away this was something I wanted to pursue as a career so I applied for and successfully completed the rigorous 2 year Clinical Canine Massage Practitioner programme. I am now a fully insured member of the Canine Massage Guild and dedicated to continually updating my training and professional development.
I offer canine massage therapy home visits where your dog is relaxed in the comfort of their own home. I specialise in soft tissue rehabilitation from injuries such as strains, trigger points and myofascial pain and also provide chronic pain management for orthopaedic conditions like arthritis, hip and elbow dysplasia and luxating patella. Canine massage can also be an extremely effective treatment for nervous and anxious dogs, as it stimulates the parasympathetic nervous system, releasing endorphins which help to soothe and relax. I use a combination of techniques including 4 disciplines of massage – Swedish, deep tissue, sports and also the Lenton Method®, a set of direct myofascial release techniques which have been clinically trialled at Winchester University, where 95% of the dogs responded positively. Each session is tailored to your dog, ensuring they receive the correct treatment in a kind and compassionate manner.
Clinical canine massage is a highly beneficial holistic therapy for all types of dogs which delivers results in 1-3 sessions. Please get in contact today if you would like me to help your dog in any of the following ways:
– Relieve pain and discomfort
– Improve mobility and posture
– Rehabilitate soft tissue injuries
– Promote psychological wellbeing
– Assist your dog to return to normal activities of daily living, such as going up and down stairs or in and out of the car.
– Assist senior dogs who may be slowing down
Cost
£50 for initial consultation and treatment and £45 for subsequent treatments. Travel costs will apply for clients located outside of a 10 mile radius of OX12 8JY but this will be discussed at the time of booking.
Client Comments
The improvements were astonishing after the 3 sessions. His pace picked up considerably during his walks; he was walking ahead and leading the way rather than plodding alongside or behind, which he hasn’t done for some time. He also wanted to increase the distance of his walks. He was able to jump on/off the sofa much easier and became more playful again. Anna had a very calm and gentle nature which Geordie responded well to.

Even after the first session I saw a huge change in Rosie’s movement, from lagging behind on walks to suddenly wanting to be ahead was a massive improvement. She overcompensates a lot on her other back leg but after the 3 sessions I have noticed that she is moving so much better on all 4 legs and her little wiggle has returned.
She will always have a limp as that is the nature of the injury but after the sessions she seems to be coping better with her mobility. She also hops onto the bed a lot better and doesn’t have to think about it as much. Overall very happy with the outcome.

Spot was very relaxed after session 3 and has not shown any hind leg discomfort since the treatment. Previously he could not walk for more than 30 minutes but I am now able to take him for longer walks without any signs of discomfort. This is a huge improvement. Anna was brilliant; extremely patient and caring and Spot responded to her kindness.

Nelly’s mobility was noticeably better after each treatment. On walks she is more active and interested in exploring. She is also using her back leg properly rather than skipping. Nelly also seems happier. Anna handled Nelly with great care and understood her tolerance levels.
