About the therapist
I’m Chifumi, and I run Saffron Canine Massage Therapy.
After working for over 10 years as a human sports massage therapist, I decided to take the next step in my career and train as a clinical canine massage therapist. I have always found it incredibly rewarding to help people recover from injuries, return to their everyday activities, and manage chronic conditions. I wanted to bring that same level of care and support to dogs.
I have a particular interest in injury rehabilitation and the management of chronic musculoskeletal pain associated with orthopaedic conditions such as hip dysplasia, arthritis, and spondylosis.
Following a road traffic accident in which I sustained a spinal fracture, I experienced first-hand the challenges of recovery. Manual hands-on therapy played a vital role in my rehabilitation, giving me a deep appreciation of how a holistic approach can support the body’s natural healing process. This experience strengthened my passion for helping others, both people and dogs, improve their comfort, mobility, and quality of life.
I completed a two-year Clinical Canine Massage Therapy programme at the Canine Massage Therapy Centre, where I trained the Lenton Method®. This method focuses on the fascial network and incorporates four massage disciplines—Swedish, Deep tissue, Sports massage, and Myofascial release—alongside more than 60 manual therapy techniques.
I am fully insured and committed to continuing my professional development to further enhance my knowledge and skills, ensuring I provide the highest standard of care for every dog I treat.
I offer a mobile service, treating dogs in the comfort of their own homes, where they are relaxed and familiar with their surroundings. Every dog is treated as an individual. I take the time to understand each dog’s needs, work at their own pace, and tailor every treatment plan accordingly.
