About the therapist

Emily Cushion photoHi I’m Emily and I run Emily Cushion Clinical Canine Massage. My background is in academia lecturing in Sport Science and Strength and Conditioning, so when I found out my labrador had elbow dysplasia I knew there must be some additional support I could provide to ensure her mobility and wellbeing didn’t suffer. This led me to train for two years with the Canine Massage Therapy Centre. This extensive programme covers topics such as anatomy and physiology, gait analysis, and teaches four disciplines of massage including Swedish, Sports, Deep Tissue, Myofascial Release and the renowned Lenton® Method. I am now a proud member of the Canine Massage Guild and am looking forward to helping more dogs and owners see the benefits of clinical canine massage.

Canine massage is a holistic hands-on therapy that can aid in the treatment of soft tissue injuries, support dogs with chronic orthopaedic conditions and aid performance for sporting or working dogs. Some of the benefits of massage can include improved mobility, improved posture, reduced pain levels, greater ‘zest’ for life and overall improvement in wellbeing for your dog.

Client Comments

After canine massage treatment with Emily we have noticed Bear has improved his mobility and finds moving around the house and up and down stairs more comfortable. He also wants to run around the garden more – zoomies! We look forward to continued maintenance sessions with Emily.

Tia is like a new ad younger dog! Since receiving massage Tia has reduced stiffness, is much livelier and wants to run around a lot more. Emily was very professional and obviously cared a lot about Tia and doing what she could to improve her mobility and comfort.
