About the therapist
I’m Sara and having worked for many years in the corporate world of local and central government I wasn’t happy and wanted a job that wasn’t just paying the bills. I wanted to enjoy my work and feel like I was making a positive difference. Following Reiki Master training different priorities and areas opened up to me and I knew working with dogs was what I needed to do.
Before training with the Canine Massage Therapy Centre I completed a Level 4 NVQ in dog behaviour, training and management and completed courses in nutrition, crystals and essential oils looking for the most holistic approach for my own dogs. So alongside Canine Massage I can provide some holistic advice and I also offer Reiki treatments.
More importantly I am a dog mam to 4 Labradors at present, Bailey, Rosie, Penny and Bonnie. Our favourite thing is a lovely peaceful walk and a swim is a bonus. I also volunteer for Labradors in Need, rehoming and supporting the charity. It’s often hard but also rewarding work. Most of my dogs have been rescues and I’m a passionate supporter or rehoming.

It is clear that Sara has an immense love for dogs and a passion for their wellbeing. Sara explained to us where Copper was experiencing tightness and reduced movement. I could see the benefits.

At first Bella was unsettled and unnerved as it was something new for her, but Sara made her feel comfortable she was able to settle into the treatment. Bella can be stubborn but Sara worked with her, wasn’t too pushy to make her feel comfortable. The difference in Bella’s mobility is amazing! She has a spring back in her step.

I really believe in treatments that compliment traditional veterinary care so was very interested in massage. Cotty is a bit of an anxious dog and wasn’t initially keen however Sara picked up on what Cotty was communicating quickly and gave her the time and space she needed. By the final sessions she was much more accepting. Since the treatment Cotty is much more playful, less dog reactive on walks and her demeanour is much brighter.

Sara was great with Woody. She was very attentive to his needs and mindful of gaining his trust first and understood when he needed breaks. The improvement in Woody was extremely noticeable from the first session. He was keener to move and more agile on walks and his mobility improved. He was like a puppy again the day after the treatment.

Bloom is a retired greyhound who was injured but we didn’t know what the injury was. She is also 8 years old and had slowed down. I could tell Sara was really experienced with dogs and was so lovely with Bloom. She was calm and went at Blooms pace so she wasn’t overwhelmed. After 3 treatments Bloom is walking much faster and is a lot more agile. The best result is she is now getting on the sofa with us a lot more and seeking us out for affection.

Molly was not particularly well behaved initially but she did eventually settle with encouragement from Sara. Sara spoke to Molly throughout the session with a calming tone which had the desired effect. The treatment restarted puppy mode! Molly is certainly moving more freely.
