CSJ Canine Feeds is delighted to announce the launch of a new agility competition being held next year at 10 Kennel Club agility shows throughout the country, with Finals at the prestigious Premier show, Prestbury Park, August 2020.
Aimed at a much neglected audience, The CSJ Agility Veteran Handler Stakes is open to handlers aged 60 and over with Grade 4-7 dogs. It will be run across all 4 heights. For the first year, at least, all the judges will be over 60, too.
A prolific sponsor of many dog sports, especially Agility, CSJ Specialist Canine Feeds has, for several years, invested heavily in agility by sponsoring The CSJ Agility Grand Prix at UKA shows, the UKA Grand Finals, the CSJ Agility Open and the World Agility Open and, until last year, the KC International Agility Festival. The event will also be supported by The Canine Massage Guild and Norton Rosettes.
CSJ founder Ceri Rundle says, “We have been considering how we might bring a more personal presence to KC agility shows, and this competition will support local CSJ stockists who will be invited to attend. Many of today’s 60+ handlers have been in the sport since its inception. We would like to acknowledge them and give them an opportunity to compete against their peers. Above all, we hope it will be a fun competition that will see the return of the banter and laughter that I hear was once prevalent ‘around the rings’ at agility shows”!

We’re so very excited to be involved with The CSJ Agility Veteran Handler Stakes. Thousands of handlers of Agility and sporting dogs use Guild Therapists to optimise their dogs’ physical condition, rehabilitate them from injury and maximise endurance, power and mobility. The positive shift in attitude towards Clinical Canine Massage Therapy, not something even heard of when Agility began, has been supported by veteran handlers across the country; they’ve made this sport what it is today and that’s something that should be celebrated so we are thrilled to be a part of it.
Guild therapists will be in attendance at each heat to provide free muscular health checks for the dogs and to chat with handlers about ways to keep their dog in peak condition. It’s going to lots of fun.
